President Donald Trump appointed Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller to succeed Susie Wiles as White House chief of staff from Monday. Trump announced the change on Truth Social and thanked Wiles for her work.

Wiles had been chief of staff since January 2025 and is to take a role in Trump’s political organization. Reports described Miller as an architect of Trump’s hard-line immigration policy. Two reports linked Wiles’s departure to disappointing election results for Trump’s party, while the other reports did not give a reason.
