Stefan de Walle said in the video podcast Karel’s bench that ending his years as an adviser to Sinterklaas on Het Sinterklaasjournaal had been difficult. He described the period as intense and turbulent, saying it involved more than appearing on horseback.

De Walle said he had enjoyed the role but had also received death threats.

The actor is said to be suddenly available as a helper, while rumors of possible disagreements continue.
