Spencer Alberg leaves Almere city council

Spencer Alberg is stepping down as a D66 member of the Almere city council because a new position with his employer means he can no longer combine his work with council duties. He had served on the council since 2022 and said he could not give the role the attention it deserved in the near future. The D66 group said it regretted his departure and would miss him. Rachelle Tweeboom was initially expected to succeed Alberg, but she decided not to join the council because the step came too early for her. The next person on the list was due to be considered.

Almere council members David de Vreede and Alexander Sjump left the SP after having served respectively as an alderman and a councillor in Almere. De Vreede said they had not had an opportunity to explain their reasons, concerns and frustrations to the party’s national leadership before their departure.
