Tens of thousands of people demonstrated in Madrid and other Spanish cities, demanding more affordable housing. More than 50 demonstrations were planned nationwide, with the largest gathering in Madrid, where four smaller marches converged at Plaza de Cibeles. Organisers put attendance in Madrid at more than 500,000, while authorities estimated 70,000. The protests followed parliament's rejection the previous day of two government proposals aimed at addressing the housing crisis, including additional support for tenants.
