Singer Sophie Straat said she remains on guard after receiving numerous death threats following controversy over her performance at the Best Kept Secret festival this summer. She said the threats were explicit and creative, and that security was present at every subsequent festival appearance.

Straat said the security measures made her afraid and made clear to her that she was in danger. One report said the controversy concerned her pronunciation of the words “white men” and that she was compared with Hitler.
