The Sinterklaas arrival in Hoogezand-Sappemeer will go ahead after uncertainty over whether it could be organised because of a lack of soot-sweep helpers and other volunteers. A group of local organisations and entrepreneurs has taken over the organisation.

Sinterklaas and his helpers are due to arrive at the Sluiskade on Saturday 14 November, where Mayor Erica of Spring will receive them. The helpers will appear only with soot marks.
