Silvian Kesbeke was reported to have taken part in a pickle-eating competition in America in De Augurkenkoning. He competed against the reigning champion, Joe, in an attempt to eat two kilograms of pickles. When another participant began gagging, Kesbeke also struggled. Father Oos and Brother Camiel encouraged him.
