Sharp objects found in Halloween candy in Germany and Austria

Police in Germany and Austria warned parents after nails, needles and other metal objects were found in Halloween candy collected by children. No injuries have been reported.

In Linz, a father found small nails in chocolate bars and other sweets collected by his children in the Oed district. In Essen, two cases were reported: one father found a needle in the wrapper of a chocolate bar given to his 13-year-old son, while other parents found metal pieces in chocolate and a bag of wine gums. Police are investigating reports, although it remains unclear whether all reported cases in Germany have been confirmed.
