Sepp van den Berg, a defender who had recently returned from a groin injury, said he wanted to earn a call-up to the Netherlands squad during the season with Brentford FC. He also hoped to help the club qualify for European football.

He said he believed playing regularly for Brentford would improve his chances of being invited by the national-team coach.
