A 20-year-old man from Lelystad, identified as H., was convicted of four home invasions, including two during Christmas. In one case, a couple returning home on Christmas Day found their garden door open, their rooms ransacked and a large stone among the broken glass in the bathroom. A detail visible in camera images reportedly helped identify him.
Separately, a 41-year-old man suspected of shooting a resident in the resident’s home in Lelystad said he had remembered an alibi about six months after the incident. He said he had been with a sick friend watching films, and that he had previously remembered events incorrectly. His case remains at the suspicion stage.
