A 20-year-old man was sentenced by the Amsterdam court for his role in an explosion at the front door of a home on Delta in Lelystad on 20 February. He was found to have taken the person who carried out the attack to Lelystad, supplied the explosive device and sent instructions via Snapchat. The device consisted of Cobra fireworks attached to bottles of petrol, according to one report. A 16-year-old boy from Huizen was detained by neighbours after the explosion and is being prosecuted under juvenile law.
The reports differ on the sentence. One reported a 20-month unconditional prison term plus 10 months suspended, while the later report gave a total sentence of 30 months, including 10 months suspended. The court took the suspect’s age and probation-service advice into account, according to one report. Conditions during the suspended term include supervision, a contact ban with co-suspects, structured daytime activities, psychological treatment and debt assistance.
