Seaweed extract tested as an alternative to fertilizer in Biddinghuizen
◆1 source
An organic dairy farm in Biddinghuizen was testing whether liquid seaweed extract could improve the quality and yield of grass. Farmer Wilfried Groot Koerkamp was applying different quantities of the extract per hectare instead of fertilizer, while Biogroko examined its effects on grass growth and composition.
The initial results were reported as positive: the test fields produced 7% more grass, chlorophyll content increased by 7%, and protein content rose by more than 4%. The research is still ongoing, including an effort to determine the most effective dosage.
