Emergency services launched a large search on Sunday afternoon for a water sportsman who may have got into trouble off the coast of Scheveningen. The person was last seen in the area between Kijkduin and the Scheveningen pier and was believed to be a surfer or kitesurfer.

Rescue boats searched at sea, while KNRM vehicles searched the beach. A helicopter and a Coast Guard aircraft were also deployed.
