The sea lions Sarina, Lilo and Puck were flown from Artis in Amsterdam to a new enclosure in Singapore, leaving the zoo without sea lions for the first time in more than a century. Two male sea lions had previously been moved to another zoo. A keeper travelled with the three animals to help their new carers become familiar with them.

Artis decided to close its sea lion enclosure after concerns about the size of its pool and concluded that the animals would be better accommodated in Singapore's larger facilities. The former sea lion building will be converted into an enclosure for penguins.
