School bus crash in Lent

A bus carrying about 70 people, including secondary-school students, left the road and struck a tree in Lent, in France's Ain department, while travelling towards Bourg-en-Bresse. The crash occurred at about 7 a.m.; emergency services, police and helicopters were sent to the scene, and a reception centre was set up for relatives.

The latest report said a child and a young adult were killed and 16 other occupants were injured. Earlier reports had described several casualties and said two people had gone into cardiac arrest; a civil-security spokesperson described their condition as very serious. Transport Minister Philippe Tabarot said he would go to the site.
