Russian television producer Alexander Kondratov died at the age of 52 under circumstances described as suspicious. He was known for criticizing Vladimir Putin and had been arrested in the spring on suspicion of treason.

Before his trial, Kondratov was admitted to a hospital for unknown reasons and died a few days later.
