A 42-year-old man in Roosendaal was sentenced after unintentionally reckless behaviour at a metal company led to the death of a colleague when a homemade fireworks fountain exploded. He was given an effective prison sentence of four days. The man had also set fire to his apartment the previous year, where twelve snakes belonging to his wife died.
The court ordered him to undergo mandatory treatment for a disorder and alcohol addiction. He is now subject to both the short prison sentence and the treatment order.
