Romania says it uncovered a Russian-linked sabotage network

Romania’s intelligence service said it had uncovered a sabotage network coordinated by Russia and linked it to a fire in September near a Romanian state-owned arms producer. The service said the network had received targets including state-owned and private weapons companies, as well as other sites of military and industrial interest, in Romania and other EU countries whose identities were not disclosed.

A Ukrainian national and two Belarusians have been prosecuted on suspicion of attempted sabotage. Two were arrested in Germany, where Romanian prosecutors said they had carried out similar activities, and the third was arrested in Poland. Romanian authorities said they would request the suspects’ transfer. Russia has repeatedly denied allegations of sabotage in Europe.
