Rochdale hires private security in Amsterdam-Zuidoost

Housing corporation Rochdale hired private security guards for six months to address nuisance linked to homeless people and drug users in the H-Buurt of Amsterdam-Zuidoost. Rochdale and the Zuidoost district confirmed the measure. Residents of several flats had reported months of nuisance, including people gathering near entrances and broken storage units and leaving drug-related waste and faeces.
Rochdale said the security contract costs about €110,000 and that guards may be deployed at other flats if the nuisance shifts there. The corporation is in talks with the municipality and the national government about a structural solution.
