Ultramarathon runner Rick van der Burg from Weesp walked the Amsterdam Marathon live for NH on 18 October, wearing a GoPro on his head and carrying a 15-kilogram backpack needed for the live connection. He completed the more than 42-kilometre course in four hours and five minutes, rather than the three and a half hours he had hoped for.
Van der Burg had taken part in the 246-kilometre Spartathlon in Greece less than three weeks earlier. The Amsterdam Marathon was the first marathon in which he used a head-mounted GoPro, allowing viewers to follow the race live from start to finish. The footage remains available on YouTube.
