A system of reusable boxes with a deposit is being developed in the Netherlands as a possible way to reduce the growing amount of paper and cardboard waste from parcel deliveries. Households in the Netherlands order about 60 packages a year, according to the account.

The initiative is linked to a European Union decision that waste production should be reduced. No details about the proposed system or its implementation have been given.
