The 126-year-old steamship Christiaan Brunings, known in Amsterdam as the boat of Sinterklaas, reportedly needs a major restoration. Scheepvaartmuseum curator Tim Tachkerk said its last major maintenance took place in the 1970s and estimated the restoration cost at €3 million.

A crowdfunding campaign started this week to raise the required funds. Without the restoration, the ship could end up permanently out of service on land, according to the account.
