Residents boycott information evening on planned Uithoorn business building

Residents of the Thamerweg in Uithoorn stayed away from an information evening about a business building planned by developer Delin Property. The residents’ association said they objected to the way the plans were being handled, were still awaiting documents requested under the Open Government Act and wanted to review the plans beforehand. Four neighbors attended, according to Delin. The developer submitted a permit application to the municipality on the same day.
The plan concerns a site of about 1.4 hectares, with a 15-metre-high building covering roughly half the plot and space for two small or medium-sized businesses. Residents fear a distribution center, traffic, noise, odors and loss of light and views. Delin said the precise use was not yet settled and that loading docks, truck turning areas and parking had been moved to the Amsterdamseweg. It also promised greenery between the building, a watercourse and the homes, while saying noise limits would not be exceeded. Residents regarded the relocation as an improvement but remained concerned about road safety, equipment noise and the building’s impact. They also fear a second building on an adjacent plot, although Delin said there are currently no concrete plans for it.
