Research by Lisette Kootker of Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam has shed new light on an ancient skeleton in Coevorden that was long thought to be a fallen Spanish soldier. Examination of the skeleton’s jaw indicated that the man was not Spanish. His place of origin was found through analysis of a tooth, although it was not specified.
