Renovation halted at building on Zeeburgerdijk

The renovation of a large building at the beginning of Zeeburgerdijk in Amsterdam-Oost was halted after alleged contractor errors. The property was intended to contain 18 homes and office space, but has stood empty since a meal-delivery business left. According to the municipality, so much sand had been removed that the building’s piles were exposed and the property might have become unstable. Companies then spent about a week filling the hole with sand and installed a steel structure to help keep the building intact.
