Removal of two trees on the Brink in Assen

Assen was due to remove a 160-year-old summer linden and an American oak from the Brink on Friday morning. The trees were in such poor condition that the municipality considered further delay irresponsible; one report attributed the danger to fungus.

Both trees had been heavily pruned two years earlier in an effort to preserve them, but this did not prevent their removal.
