Redesign of De Boelelaan begins

Work was reported to have started on the section of De Boelelaan between Parnassusweg and Beethovenstraat in Amsterdam. The road is being renewed and adapted to the 30-kilometre-per-hour speed limit. After the old asphalt is removed, Waternet is expected to replace the sewer. The redesign also narrows the roadway and adds three raised intersections to improve safety and connections between Zuidas and Buitenveldert.

The project includes measures to protect existing trees, give them more growing space and plant new trees along the avenue. The work has led to a diversion and mixed reactions from passers-by and cyclists.
