Frank and Pauline said that the recent destruction of the rainbow flag on the facade of their home brought back painful memories of what their transgender daughter had experienced in the village. They said she had been scolded, pressured and chased there for years, and that people had called after her, asking whether she had been “remodeled” yet.

The couple said the flag was displayed for their daughter and in recognition of what they had been through together.
