A collision at Muiderpoort station around 7:15 disrupted train services between Amsterdam Centraal and Utrecht. Initially, no trains ran in either direction and emergency services were working at the station; travellers were advised to travel via Amsterdam Bijlmer ArenA or Amsterdam Zuid using metro lines 52 or 54. Fewer trains also ran because of the disruption.

A later report said services between Amsterdam and Utrecht remained greatly reduced, with the disruption expected to last until about 10:15. It also reported several disruptions affecting trains to and from Utrecht Centraal that morning.
