Reports said Congo goalkeeper Lionel Mpasi played at the World Cup and in qualifying matches despite allegedly not being eligible to represent Congo. He had previously played for French youth teams and, according to one report, had not completed the required switch of national association from France to Congo. FIFA confirmed that it had handled a complaint from Nigeria about the matter. One report said FIFA president Gianni Infantino had also been informed.
