The Netherlands’ Day of the Purple Envelope was launched on 3 November at Erasmus MC in Rotterdam to encourage participation in the population screening programme for colon cancer. The campaign said too few people are taking part and promoted the test as a simple way to potentially avoid considerable suffering. Mariel Croon, director of the MDL Fund, supported the initiative.
