Public transport security operation in Brabant and Limburg

A public transport security operation at the end of October involved operators, police and the military on the Tilburg–Eindhoven and Sittard–Heerlen routes and at Breda and Heerlen stations. Checks covered valid tickets, public drunkenness and identification. Fines were issued mainly for travelling without a ticket, smoking on platforms and failing to show identification.

The reports differed on the number of arrests, with one reporting eight and another seven. The latter said the NS issued 166 fines on the Friday of the operation. One report said seven of the eight arrests took place in Breda, including arrests connected to an outstanding prison sentence and a false driving licence.
