Mass protests and violent incidents were reported in France as tensions between the political extremes deepened. The French government was seeking to calm the situation, while the left-wing FVC continued to call for demonstrations and Marine Le Pen’s right-wing National Rally (RN) said it would protect its supporters from violence by the far left.

Both parties were performing strongly in opinion polls, while support for the political center was declining.
