Thousands of people took to the streets of Guadalajara, in Mexico’s Jalisco state, on Sunday to demand clean drinking water. The protest involved burning barricades. Households in the region had reportedly been struggling for months with discoloured and foul-smelling tap water.

The protesters also called for police violence during an earlier demonstration to be addressed.
