Residents in Uithoorn protested against plans to accommodate up to 250 asylum seekers. They said they did not feel sufficiently heard by the municipality and questioned whether the decision could still be changed. A scheduled meeting between the municipality, the Central Agency for the Reception of Asylum Seekers (COA) and local residents was cancelled after many people registered and a protest was announced. The municipality said it would instead hold several smaller meetings to allow more room for residents to be heard.
