Prosecution sought sentence for tram driver after Amstelveen crash
◆2 sources
Prosecutors sought 100 hours of community service and a suspended six-month driving ban for a tram driver accused of running a red signal and seriously injuring a 14-year-old cyclist on Buitenveldertselaan in Amstelveen on 25 March. The driving ban would take effect only if he reoffends.
The driver told the court that he had not realised the signal was red and had believed he had a clear tram signal. He has stopped driving trams since the crash. The girl is recovering, according to her lawyer. The court is due to rule on 12 November.
