Proposed waterboard tax increases in Amstel, Gooi and Vecht

Waterboard Amstel, Gooi and Vecht proposed raising waterboard taxes by 4% annually until 2050, in addition to inflation. It said the plan would roughly double current charges by 2050 and generate an extra €15 million each year for a fund for future investments. The waterboard said its costs are expected to double by 2050, citing climate change and work on land, sluices and water treatment.

For 2027, the average increase including inflation would be 6.4%. The charge for an owner-occupied property valued at €500,000 would rise from €553 to €581, while a multi-person tenant household would pay €490 rather than €465. The proposal is due to be discussed with next year's budget, with a final decision expected in the 2027 spring memorandum.
