Proposed lower tourist tax for farms in Weesp

Amsterdam’s municipal executive said it does not support setting a lower tourist-tax rate for farms in Weesp than elsewhere in the city, in response to a CDA proposal. It cited administrative complexity and legal risks, including possible conflict with the principle of equality and claims from other accommodation providers seeking a lower rate.

The tourist tax is set to rise from 12.5% to 16% next year and to 20% by 2031. The proposal is expected to be discussed by the city council later this month. Politicians in Zuidoost have also sought an exception for their district.
