Prison sentence sought for alleged online child sexual abuse

Prosecutors sought a five-year prison sentence for a 55-year-old man from Rijen accused of arranging and paying for the sexual abuse of young children during livestreams. Prosecutors said he contacted 1,369 accounts between July and early October of the previous year, and that chats and videos indicated sexual acts involving two minors were carried out at his request in August. They also said material involving child sexual abuse was found on his devices.

The investigation began after a tip from US authorities, and police traced an IP address to the man, who was arrested on 29 April. Prosecutors also requested treatment, citing a 2001 conviction for possession of child sexual abuse material. The court is expected to rule in two weeks.
