A 36-year-old man from Veenoord was sentenced to two years in prison, with one year suspended, for arson on a houseboat at the Verlengde Hoogeveense Vaart in Veenoord. He threw a burning bottle, described in one report as a Molotov cocktail, through an open hatch into the boat.
