Pretrial hearing in case against Jan B.

At a fourth pretrial hearing in Amsterdam, the court discussed a 900-page handwritten text that Jan B., 67, wrote while in custody. B. is a suspect in a sex-abuse case involving at least 14 children. The court gave no details of the text's contents and noted that parts of it are difficult to read. Parents of alleged victims and their lawyers attended the hearing.

B. was not present and remains at the Pieter Baan Centre for observation for another week. Researchers are expected to need four to six weeks to prepare their report, whose psychiatric and psychological conclusions may be discussed at the next hearing on 26 January. The court aims to conclude the case before the following summer. One report said B. will be questioned by police again after his stay at the centre.

Postponement of interim hearing in Lisa murder case

7 sources

The interim hearing in the case against Chris Jude, who is suspected of murdering 17-year-old Lisa from Abcoude, was postponed at the defence's request. The court gave the defence more time to examine the completed, extensive psychiatric report from the Pieter Baan Centre, where Jude was observed. The prosecution did not oppose the request. The postponement does not in principle delay the case, as 2 November had already been reserved as a backup date. The next full hearing is scheduled for 24 November, while the substantive hearing remains scheduled for January.
