Detention and rape case involving Canadian woman in Floradorp
◆3 sources
A 61-year-old Canadian woman alleged that she was held against her will and raped several times over several days at a house in Floradorp, Amsterdam-Noord. Police found her under a blanket during a raid after her son alerted them when she stopped responding. Eight people were arrested; two men, Shakil O. and Bryan B., are being prosecuted on suspicion of deprivation of liberty, rape and extortion.
The two detained men acknowledged having had sex with the woman but denied rape, saying she had been at the house voluntarily. Their lawyers' requests for their release were denied. Both remain in custody at least until the next preliminary hearing on 2 February.
