A new power station needed for the planned development of Almere Pampus is likely to be built near Noorderplassen-West, at the edge of Pampus. The municipality of Almere said the station is needed to meet rising electricity demand from new homes, businesses and facilities, as well as from electric cars and heat pumps. It said the existing station in Muziekwijk will not be able to handle that growth and cannot be expanded there because of limited space. Two locations remained after several options were assessed: Delta, near Noorderplassen-West, and Campus, on the planned business site in Pampus toward the forest. The municipality prefers the location near Noorderplassen-West, while the final status of the decision was not provided.
