A storm with heavy rain and lightning caused a power outage across the Spanish island of La Palma. After an earlier fault on the island’s only power line, all generators at its only power plant went offline at about 06:45, leaving more than 50,000 households without electricity for nearly four hours. One report said about 17,000 households had already lost power after a lightning strike before the island-wide outage.
