Postponement of VAT increase on ornamental flowers
◆1 source
The cabinet provisionally postponed a planned increase in VAT on ornamental flowers from 9% to 21%, which was due to take effect in 2028 and was expected to raise €328 million. Florists Stef and Brigitte Hoveling welcomed the decision because they feared higher prices would affect customers, while Royal FloraHolland called the postponement an important result of cooperation within the sector.
Florist Marco van der Ven of Bloemenkiosk Aalsmeer described the decision as a postponement rather than a cancellation. He said the continuing uncertainty could discourage him from investing in his business. Royal FloraHolland said the sector would continue working to have the proposed increase removed permanently.
