Posthumous Yad Vashem recognition for the Brouwer family

Thie, Watsina, Jantina and Aaltje Brouwer received posthumous Yad Vashem recognition in a church in Gasselternijveen. The Israeli Embassy presented the award to their relatives, granting them the title Righteous Among the Nations for helping Jewish people and others hide during the Second World War.

The family assisted people in the Drenthe-Groningen border region, including Amsterdam resident Aby de Lange, who was sheltered in Stadskanaal. A historical researcher had submitted the application for recognition, supported by wartime documents and De Lange's recorded testimony.
