Polluted water removed after fire in Lambertschaag

◆1 source

A ditch more than 1,200 metres long in Lambertschaag was being drained of 1.6 million litres of polluted water after a fire on the night of 16–17 September. The fire destroyed several hangars and a chalet, and a suspected drug laboratory was also found among the remains. Residents had been dealing with an unpleasant smell for weeks. The Hoogheemraadschap Hollands Noorderkwartier had installed a temporary structure over the road, with trucks expected to remove the water over the following weeks. Police said a drug laboratory was more than likely present, and a 24-year-old man from the municipality of Hoorn was arrested. His detention was extended by 90 days, according to the account.
