Police reportedly found 35 kilograms of illegal fireworks during a major operation in Terneuzen, Zeeland. Officers were also closely monitoring the import of prohibited fireworks. A national ban on fireworks had taken effect on 1 August, and tens of kilograms of prohibited fireworks had already been seized in earlier operations.
