Meat processor Vion plans to sell its pig slaughterhouse in Apeldoorn, citing a declining pig population, lower slaughter volumes and overcapacity. The sale concerns the site on Laan van Malkenschoten. Vion intends to place employees at other company locations in the Netherlands, including Boxtel. The closure depends on the property’s sale; Vion expects this to happen soon, possibly before the end of the year.
