The European Commission is due to present a proposal next week to strengthen the EU border agency Frontex. The Greens, including Dutch MEP Tineke Strik, expressed concern over what is known of the plan.

They warned that giving Frontex a larger role in returning rejected asylum seekers to countries outside the EU could violate EU law and human rights.
